What is the GRIT program?

GRIT is a strategic resilience program for student-athletes. GFA (Grit for Athletes) combines the components of competition and resilience to enhance an athlete’s overall athletic performance and increase each individual’s capacity for better awareness. In the 6-week program, athletes will participate in a series of tests and exercises that will maximize their personal performance and, in effect, improve their team performance.


The program involves the many aspects of fostering grit, which is a large component of resilience. Sessions include experiential learning exercises including yoga, meditation, and mindfulness training. At the beginning and end of the season, two short questionnaires are administered on resilience and grit to evaluate the growth in each individual athlete.
